What is Shamanism?

“The reason why the world lacks unity, and lies broken and in heaps, is because man is disunited with himself.” –Ralph Waldo Emerson.

RES_shutterstock_183762 Shamanism is the oldest healthcare system in the world. Practitioners see physical and emotional illnesses and unhealthy habits as originating with spiritual or energetic imbalances.

Shamanism goes a step beyond ‘holistic.’ Not only does shamanism address the whole person and familial patterns, it addresses that person’s past life experiences, spiritual attachments and their connection, or disconnection, with the living world around them*.

A shaman is a healer and a facilitator of change. Through a process called “journeying,” a shamanic practitioner calls on the guidance of spirit helpers to reconnect seekers with their own wisdom, and to release that which has not served them well. This reconnection opens gates within – allowing one’s innate gifts to surface, and to be accessible. This access – whether it is being discovered for the first time, or rediscovered – can alter the course of one’s life in the best possible ways.

A shamanic-practitioner brings healing messages from transcendent realms, opening pathways to manifesting a more fulfilling life.

A very powerful tool, shamanic healing is based on the idea that harmony within will allow harmony to exist without. Once a person is able to understand the underlying causes of their disharmony, they can begin the work of healing themselves.

*Shamanic healing isn’t replacement for other modalities, such as talk therapy, but instead treats the spiritual causes of illness in a way that doctors and psychologists might not.
